More than two decades ago, 23 Wisconsin municipalities established WPPI as the state's first municipal electric company. In 1980, WPPI communities assigned their existing power supply agreements to WPPI, quickly making us the largest customer of each of the major Wisconsin utilities. Building on that base, we began the slow and arduous task of negotiating better agreements, obtaining access to the transmission system and acquiring our own generating resources.
