WPPI is at Emergency Response Level 0. WPPI does not expect any bulk electric system reliability problems to develop in the near future. We will issue updated reports should conditions require.

The reliability of the bulk electric system for all WPPI communities is managed by the Midwest Independent Transmission System Operator (Midwest ISO). The Midwest ISO hosts a daily conference call throughout the summer to discuss the status of the bulk electric system. WPPI will participate in these calls along with representatives from each of the major utilities in our region, as well as power system security coordinators and utility representatives from the entire eastern interconnected system.

WPPI will inform member utilities, their customers, the media and others who are concerned about reliability if we become aware of situations that we believe could adversely affect electric service. As system or weather conditions warrant, WPPI will issue reports through an email mailing list as well as on the WPPI web site.

WPPI maintains an Emergency Response Plan to coordinate reactions to emergency conditions. Each report WPPI issues will state an Emergency Response Level, similar to the beginning of this report. Review the complete list of Emergency Response Levels.

In the event that conditions require WPPI to raise the Emergency Response Level, WPPI will advise members by email message. If the Emergency Response Level is raised to Level 4 or above, WPPI will contact members directly by telephone. WPPI’s email or phone message will advise members of any specific actions requested of the members at that time.

Normal conditions, but customer energy conservation in anticipation of tight power system conditions is encouraged. Activate curtailable and interruptible load programs including WPPI's regular (ongoing) large customer and residental direct load programs. Also, implement available conservation voltage reduction. Appeal for members and member customers to turn off all non-essential electrical loads.
